Mr. Bruce McKoy proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of Sergeant. During his military service, he developed strong leadership, discipline, and teamwork skills that became the foundation of his lifelong commitment to service. As a noncommissioned officer, he was responsible for mentoring and guiding fellow Marines while ensuring operational readiness and accountability. His Marine Corps experience instilled the values of integrity, resilience, and dedication that continue to shape his leadership and community work today.
My Story - Timeline

Mr. Bruce McKoy brings more than 20 years of experience in life coaching, leadership development, and conflict resolution training. With a distinguished career dedicated to mentorship, personal growth, and community empowerment, Mr. McKoy has consistently worked to help individuals build stronger foundations for success.
From 1985 to 2001, Mr. McKoy served as a Conflict Resolution Trainer at the Montgomery County Detention Center in Rockville, Maryland. During his tenure, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant, supervising more than 250 employees while contributing to staff development, operational leadership, and institutional excellence. He also chaired numerous promotion boards for over two decades, helping guide leadership advancement and uphold professional standards.
In 1994, Mr. McKoy further demonstrated his commitment to public service by serving as a Council Member for the Town of Glenarden, Maryland, where he worked to support community development and local initiatives that strengthened residents and families.
In addition to his public service career, Mr. McKoy has facilitated extensive group training and personal development programs through the BDMcKoy Nonprofit Training Center, located at 7187 Old Alexandria Ferry Road in Clinton, Maryland. His work focuses on empowering individuals through coaching, mentorship, conflict resolution, and life-skills training designed to strengthen families and communities.
On February 25, 2023, Mr. McKoy was honored with an official Proclamation from the Prince George’s County Council. In the spirit of deep gratitude, he was recognized and celebrated as an inspiration to his family, community, and to all Dapper Dads & Mentors for his lasting impact and dedication to service.
Through his leadership and vision, Mr. McKoy continues to inspire positive change, guiding individuals toward personal growth, accountability, and lifelong success.
